It is normal to feel loss, sadness, stress and pain at different points in life.
Mental health and wellbeing are just as important as physical health, and when quality of life and our ability to function become impaired, when we feel disconnected or distressed, or experience ongoing mental health issues, it can be helpful to talk to someone.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be a counsellor, but someone who will give you the space to talk things through.
There are useful contacts and guides on this site in the Mental Health Self Care section. The ‘In Crisis’ section provides more information about mental health and wellbeing, and support available in a crisis. Some organisations provide free/low cost counselling and specific services which provide advice on housing/debt/money issues.
In the Understanding Depression section, the ‘Black Dog’ videos explain how debilitating depression can be. With the right factors and support in place, recovery is possible.
